2018 issue open for submissions
We’ve got some catching up to do!
Well, it looks like we dropped the ball on letting everyone know that we launched the 2017 issue of Oakwood, which is available electronically at <https://issuu.com/sdsuoakwood/docs/oakwood_2017–final>. But better late than never. Hope you’ll take a look! We had a great reading and launch party at Briggs Library on the South Dakota State University campus.
The fall chill is starting to set in here on the northern plains, which means we’re only three months away from our next submission period. Stay tuned here for more details, or better yet follow us on Facebook <https://www.facebook.com/sdstateoakwood/> and you’ll get up-to-the-second information.
Oakwood is open for submissions!
Gearing up for our 2017 issue
We have exciting new changes afoot for the 2017 issue of Oakwood, which will meet the world next April. Specifically:
OAKWOOD IS NOW OPEN TO REGIONAL CONTRIBUTORS.
This means that we’re broadening our borders beyond Brookings and beyond South Dakota to writers of the Northern Great Plains region. (We’ll define this as simply as possible: South Dakota and the states that border it.)
SDSU students, alumni, and residents of neighboring states are welcome to submit literary works (fiction, poetry, non-fiction, plays) as well as color or black-and-white art. Our submission period is typically January of each year and guidelines are available on our submissions page.
Keep up to date with our submission and release cycle by following our Facebook page.
Submission deadline extended!
We’ve extended the submissions deadline for our 2016 issue until Sunday, February 6. See our Submissions Guidelines page for full information.
submissions open January 11
It’s time to gear up for another issue of Oakwood, SDSU’s long-running literature and arts annual. Submissions will open on January 11 and close January 31, so polish of your very best work before then and send it to sdsu.oakwood@sdstate.edu. Happy writing until then!
